Hello Warrior Family,

New Dimensions tries to instill in our students a desire to build community in our school and in our surrounding communities. We hold special recognition dress down days for groups such as Burke United Christian Ministries, Options of Morganton, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Morganton Public Safety, and Glen Alpine Food Pantry to name a few. We collect monetary donations, toys, canned goods, etc for these groups.

We have a 5th grade student, Scout J, who wants to branch out of our surrounding communities and help Hurricane Ida victims in Louisiana. While discussing recent events with her family, she decided she would like to organize a dress down day for these hurricane victims. She designed the attached flyer for a $1 dress down day on Friday, September 24th. Students may pay $1 to dress down in purple and/or gold to show their support for these families.

The monies collected will go to the Lutheran Disaster Response to assist Hurricane Ida victims.

We are so excited to see our students show concern for others and want to help those who are in need.

Thank you in advance for your support of this effort.

Thanks,

Dawn M Grindstaff, NDS Public Relations

Dear Warrior Parents, Caregivers, and Guardians,

We know that last year was tough, but we’re excited to be back in the classroom this fall. We are committed to taking the steps necessary to help us have a safe school year. As part of steps to help stop the spread of COVID-19 and keep our school open for in-person learning, we will offer a free COVID-19 Testing Program for students and staff at New Dimensions. Regular testing will help protect our students, staff, family members, and others who are not vaccinated against COVID-19 or are otherwise at risk for getting seriously sick from COVID-19.

Through this program, we will be able to identify COVID-19 cases quickly and early, which can help us stop an outbreak before it happens. This will help us keep students in the classroom and able to take part in the school activities they love.

We are working with Carolinas Health Care System Blue Ridge and are joining other school districts throughout the state that offer this program.

  • Who will be tested? We will offer testing to everyone—all students and staff—even if they don’t have symptoms of COVID-19.

    • Testing is also available for students and staff who have symptoms of COVID-19, even if vaccinated, or who have been in close contact with someone with COVID-19.

    • Students will only be tested with parent permission. Parents will be contacted via phone for verbal permission. Parents/guardians are welcome to be present during testing.

  • How is the testing done? The COVID-19 testing is free, quick, and easy. Our school nurse will oversee testing with a BinaxNOW COVID-19 Ag test, which includes gently swabbing the inner part of the lower nostril. This test is not painful. We do not use the longer swabs that reach higher into the nose.

  • Where and when is the testing done? Our school’s testing site will be the school nurse’s office. Results will be available within 15 minutes.

  • How can I be sure that my child’s information will be protected? Sharing of information about your child will only be done for public health purposes and in accordance with applicable law and policies protecting student privacy and the security of your child’s data.

To learn more about our testing program or if you have any questions please contact our school nurse Kristy Cooper at kcooper@ndschool.org or me at dburleson@ndschool.org.

We are extremely grateful to our committed families and staff who continue to show great flexibility and resilience as we work together to contain the spread of this virus. Thank you for all you do for our school.

Sincerely,

David Burleson, Director

Hello Warrior Family!

The Sunrise Fun Run that was scheduled for this Saturday, August 28th has been cancelled. The information below is from Historic Morganton Festival Assistant Director, Abby Gentry Nelson.

"Historic Morganton Festival, Inc., has made the decision to cancel all but one night of the Morganton Festival Weekends out of an abundance of caution and deep concern for the health and safety of our citizens.

Historic Morganton Festival, Inc., will still have the planned food vendors opening at 12pm and the concert featuring Carolina Soul Band on Friday, August 27, from 7-9pm with safety measures in place. Nothing else scheduled for the remainder of the Morganton Festival Weekends will go on as planned.

There will be NO festival activities held Saturday, August 28, or the weekends of September 3 and 4, 2021, or September 10 and 11, 2021. This means the Sunrise Run, roving entertainment, craft vendor days and other Friday night concerts planned for the Morganton Festival Weekends have all been cancelled. Historic Morganton Festival, Inc., hopes to still hold the M.A.D.E. Competition on Sept. 10 and 11, but at a different location where social distancing measures can be easily observed."

New Dimensions will hold it's own Fun Run on NDS campus at the NDS Athletic Field on Friday, September 10th at our Family Fun Festival. Registrants will receive their t-shirts in time to wear them to school on Friday, September 10th.

Thank you for supporting NDS and the Athletics Department. If you have any questions, please contact Coach Brooks at mbrooks@ndschool.org.

Thank you,

Dawn M Grindstaff, NDS Public Relations

Hello NDS Families,

As the beginning of school is approaching, we are working on our Lunch program so we can begin food service on day 1, September 1st . In order to do that, we have to plan ahead. Orgs Online is our online ordering system for you to order each month from NDS’s lunch vendors: Fulenwider Catering, Buck’s Pizza, Firehouse Subs and ChickFilA; making daily menu choices for your child. You will order and pay for only the meals you choose (no paying for lunches on field trip days). Orders are placed for a month at a time, a month in advance.

The September food service ordering period will be open beginning Monday, August 2nd through Friday, August 20th at 5:00 p.m. All payments are due online by the last day of ordering - August 20th at 5:00 p.m. .

Pay online using your credit card.

There will be no refunds given for lunches once orders are placed; however, if a student is absent on a day he or she has ordered, parents/guardians can contact the school to schedule pick up of the ordered lunch.

To get started:

New Users:

  1. Go to www.orgsonline.com to set up a new account.

  2. Enter your name and contact information. All fields are required.

  3. Enter the New Dimensions School Code: 516NDCSNC and select Continue.

  4. Enter the remaining registration information, and follow the prompts to review and complete registration.

  5. When you order in subsequent months, you will simply log on with your email address and password, then choose menu options for each child for the month, and submit payment.

Existing Lunch Program Users:

  1. Go to www.orgsonline.com to order

  2. Log in with your email address and password you previously created

  3. Choose menu options for each child for the month

  4. Submit online payment

A few things to remember:

-A separate order is needed for each child who is ordering lunch.

-The first time you visit the school lunch website, login as a FIRST TIME USER to activate your account.

-You will use the school code shown above to activate your account (516NDCSNC).

-Follow the on-screen prompts to set up your family account.

-If you encounter a login problem, use the GET HELP button to request assistance.

-The submitted information will be recorded and used next time you return to the school lunch program.

-You will need to log in each month to place an order. Once you log in, you will see your family account.

You must process each order until you see the Order Confirmation page. Do not stop until you see an Order Confirmation for the order being submitted.
