NDS Warrior Family,

Over the last 40 years I have been one of the most fortunate people alive. I have been given the opportunity to work with wonderful people and live in the greatest place in the world. There is no doubt that Burke and Avery Counties are blessed with some of the finest people anywhere in our country.

Over the last three and a half years I am very proud of what we have been able to accomplish together for the students of New Dimensions. Our school has grown numerically, and the students have progressed academically. We have also assembled a wonderful staff who care about student success and growth. Our school has developed a positive reputation in our community and is setting the standard for academic excellence. New Dimensions is also getting attention statewide because of what we are doing for our students. Our school continues to do what is best for our students and boosts one of the most committed boards of any school system in the region. NDS has much to be proud of because of our wonderful students, supportive families, excellent staff, and supportive community.

I want to personally thank the NDS board, staff, students, and families for what you have done for me and my family, the support we have had, the prayers we felt, and the commitment you have made to our school over the last several years. I truly believe that God opens doors that He expects us to walk through. For me and my family I believe this is now the case. At this time in my life and after much prayerful consideration, I have decided to retire from full time work. I am resigning my position as the Director of New Dimensions: A Public Charter School as of December 31, 2022. The bottom line is that it is time to concentrate on being a husband, father, and grandfather.

I want to thank everyone involved with NDS for the lessons you have taught me over the last several years, and for the opportunities to work with our students, staff, and families. Those lessons I learned and experiences we shared will be tremendous assets as I move to another phase in my life. Please know that you remain in my prayers, and thoughts as I hope we remain in yours. Never forget what we have been able to do together and remember the foundation that has been laid. I especially want to thank the NDS Board for providing me the opportunity to experience a new phase in my career.

I encourage you to do all possible to focus on the needs of our students; to work collaboratively with everyone in our Warrior community, and to continue to do all possible to move New Dimensions forward.

Please know I wish you the very best and I look forward to hearing of your many future successes. As I am sure you know, the NDS board will work to find the very best director to move our school to the next level.

Sincerely yours,

David Burleson

Director

All our kindergarten girls will be in school on Thursday, September 1 and just the boys on Friday, September 2. The entry times for staggered kindergarten will be from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Kindergarten parents may park at the front of the school and walk their child to their classroom. If a parent has another student at New Dimensions, it is fine to drop the kindergartner off early. Remember that dismissal for all students including kindergarteners begins at 3:10 p.m. All kindergarteners will be in school on Tuesday, September 6. New Dimensions will be observing the Labor Day Holiday on Monday, September 5.

Morning drop off at New Dimensions is from 7:15 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. All students enter gate 3. All K-5 students will be directed into either lane 1 or 2 in order to drive around the building for drop off. Middle students will immediately turn right after entering gate 3. Middle schoolers will have 2 lanes this year and students will be directed when to exit the car. This year, middle schoolers will not go around the traffic circle and they will enter the building through the new side entrance. All siblings can be dropped off at this area. This year our K-2 student will stay in cafeteria one until 7:30 a.m. and our 3-5 students will be in cafeteria 2 until 7:30 a.m. Middle school students will be in the new multipurpose area until 7:30 a.m. Siblings may stay together.

Afternoon pick up begins at 3:10 p.m. Again, enter gate 3 and you will be directed to the appropriate lane. Eighth grade parents only will turn right after entering gate 3 to pick up their eighth grader and any siblings.

Be sure to watch the video about drop off and pick up. Here is the link to the Arrival/Dismissal Video Please give us a little extra grace and patience over the first few days as we get problems corrected.

Coach Brooks is still needing runners for the Sunrise Run on Saturday, September 9. Registration forms are due before noon on Friday, September 2. You can pay cash or write a check to HMF. Let’s work together to have the largest number of runners.

Good afternoon Warrior families,

Excitement is in the air after a successful two nights of Open Houses at NDS! We saw many smiles on the faces of parents, students, teachers and staff. As we're now less than 24 hours until our arrival time, we'd like to share with you a video of a one-on-one drive through experience with Dr. Burleson as we ride along with him through the arrival/dismissal traffic patterns. You can view the video on our school homepage - ndsschool.org or directly through the following link - https://tinyurl.com/4az99s3s.

Also, Kindergarten parents, please remember that New Dimensions will be “staggering” the enrollment dates for our kindergarteners so each child will receive as much individual attention on his or her first day as possible. All our kindergarten girls will be in school on Thursday, September 1 and only the boys on Friday, September 2. The entry times for staggered kindergarten will be from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. All kindergarteners will be in school on Tuesday, September 6. New Dimensions will be observing the Labor Day Holiday on Monday, September 5.

We look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow and Friday!

Good afternoon Warrior families,

I want to remind everyone that our students come back to school on Thursday, September 1. I hope you are excited about the new school year. Please know our staff is committed to making this our best school year ever.

To get everyone ready for the new school year, there will be two days for open house at New Dimensions. Open house will be held on Monday, August 29 and Tuesday, August 30 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. We encourage students with last names starting with A to J to attend on August 29 and K to Z on August 30 but if those dates are not convenient families may attend the day that is best for them. Open house will give everyone an opportunity to meet each other, tour the school, meet the teachers, drop off any school supplies, and ask any questions that you might have. Be sure to watch the video that was emailed to everyone yesterday. Check out this video to preview what Open House nights will look like and the specifics of where you need to go.

Hello New Dimensions Families,

I want to welcome you back for the new school year. This fall, we will be offering the following sports with signups at Open House nights. Signup forms will be available these evenings.

We will begin the fall sports with 6th-8th grade co-ed outdoor soccer tryout sessions September 6-8 after school until 5:00 p.m. on the NDS Athletic field across from where the buses are parked. After tryouts, practices will typically be Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays until games begin.

County little league outdoor soccer practices will likely begin the 1st full week of September. Ages for little league outdoor soccer are the following with an age deadline of August 31:

Pre-Pee Wee 5 and 6 yr olds

Pee Wee 7 and 8 yr olds

Mighty Mite 9 and 10 yr olds

Midget 11 and 12 yr olds

Practices and times for practices will depend on our volunteer coaches schedules.

If you are interested in coaching or assisting our little league outdoor soccer teams please let Coach Brooks know as soon as possible. We cannot do little league sports without your help.

Cheerleading for K-8th graders will be starting the week of September 12. Cheerleaders should meet for practices on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school until 4:00 p.m.

Girls and boys cross country for 4th-8th graders will be starting Monday, September 19. Practices before meets begin will typically be Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays after school until 5:00 p.m. on the NDS school campus.

The 4th-5th grade archery club will begin Monday, October 1 with the club meeting each Monday from after school until 5:00 p.m. And, the 6th-8th grade archery club will begin Wednesday, October 3 with the club meeting each Wednesday also from after school until 5:00p.m. The two archery clubs will run through the beginning of October until likely the middle of November. Competition teams for archery will likely start in late November or early December.

In addition to sports sign ups at Open House there will also be opportunities to sign up for the annual Sunrise Run and to purchase our new athletic apparel.

If you have any questions please email Coach Brooks at mbrooks@ndschool.org or text him at 813-215-4879.

Thank you and I'm looking forward to a great school year!!
