NDS VIRTUAL WALK-A-THON KICKOFF 2020
Dear NDS Families,
We’ve said it before, and we’ll keep on saying it - we are incredibly proud of how our New Dimensions families and partners came together to finish out a tough end to a school year. As we enter the 20-21 school year, we want to generate excitement and pride in our school by kicking off the year with a virtual Walk-a-Thon!
Since our charter school receives about 70% of the funding given to a school in the public school system, it’s on us to raise additional funds to support our building, grounds, and additional programming needs. This year, we are looking to support This year, we are looking to support our athletic programs and funding for our new air filtration system to help further protect students and staff. Our goal is $35,000, and we know we can do it!
We’ve listened to feedback from our families and teachers about past walk-a-thon events. This year, we’ll be simplifying how we run the event. Here’s how to get involved:
Register your NDS student(s) and family members. Every participant will be asked to walk/run/jog/skip/crawl/move at least 4 miles between September 14 - October 16. You can do this at your own pace. Tag us in photos on social media with #NDSwalkathon or email photos and videos to firstname.lastname@example.org. Registration is $35 per person and includes a walk-a-thon t-shirt. There is a family cap of $150. Registration for a family of 3 $105, family of 4 $120, family of 5 $135, family of 6 $150. Teachers and grade levels will have competitions for prizes, and there’ll be school-wide competitions for most miles walked and most money raised from businesses. Note: this year, we won’t ask for per mile pledges, but kids can still ask relatives and friends to contribute to their registration fee. We’re keeping it simple!
Reach out to community businesses for sponsorships. All contributions are tax-deductible and are available at four different levels. See attached letter for asking for business contributions.
Watch for auction details. We’ll be having a virtual auction with some incredible items for you to share with family and friends and bid on!
Get moving! Most importantly, we want our students to be excited about coming back to school, getting exercise in the community, and helping their school.
Thank you for your continued support and involvement in our school!
